Peter Sloggatt is associate publisher and managing editor for Long Islander Newspapers. The newspaper group includes The Long Islander, founded by Walt Whitman in 1838, as well as The Record, Northport Journal and The Half Hollow Hills Newspaper. covering all of the communities in the Town of Huntington. The company also produces publications serving the legal community in five NY metro area/Long Island counties. They are The Attorney of Nassau County, Suffolk Lawyer, Queens Bar Bulletin, Brooklyn Barrister and New York County Lawyer.

Long Island born and raised, Peter studied sculpture at Parsons School of Design and previously worked as art director for Van Son Holland Ink, Inc., a printing ink and graphics supply company. A lifelong news junkie, Peter has ink in his blood. His father was the New York Mirror’s political cartoonist and his grandfather operated a linotype for the New York Times. Peter is the winner of several journalism awards from the New York Press Association.

Long active with the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, Peter also serves on the board of the Townwide Fund of Huntington, and in 2009 was appointed by the Town of Huntington to the Performing Arts Center Advisory Task Force. A founding executive board member of the Huntington Township Business Council, he is the designer of the “It Starts Here – Buy Locally” campaign.
