OBJECTIVE: Huntington is the Restaurant Capital of Long Island. To promote the region as a dining destination and encourage diners to try different restaurants, Dine Huntington Restaurant Week will offer customers a three-course, pre-fixe menu. Ideally, the value pricing will encourage customers to dine several times at different restaurants throughout the week. To encourage foot traffic in the village area, a one-night promenade is also planned to bring street dining toWall & New Streets, along with entertainment and late night shopping.
THE PROGRAM: Participating Restaurants will offer a 3-course prix fixe menu at $24.95/pp. Restaurant participation fee of $395 will fund advertising, printing of posters, menus, etc, street banners, publicity and promotion, and development and maintenance of the website DineHuntington.com.
DATES: To capitalize on opportunities for marketing afforded by the LI Fall Festival… Huntington Restaurant Week Monday, October 12 through Friday, October 23 Huntington Village Promenade on Wall and New Streets, Huntington Village- Thursday, October 15, 6-10 p.m.
THE TEAM: Huntington RestaurantWeek, a joint effort of Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce and Long Islander Newspapers. Long Islander and Chamber staff will coordinate the details of the program and website.
ADVERTISING & PROMOTION:
- As many as 200,000 people over 4 days are anticipated to attend the Chamber’s Long Island Fall Festival at Huntington. We will capture this audience with handouts, frequent announcements over the park PA system and posters, and details will be available at the Chamber’s information booths.
- Print Advertisements to be placed in The Long Islander, Newsday, Anton Newspapers (Western Nassau County) and possibly other local weeklies, as well as the Long Islander’s Fall Festival Pull-Out Guide. Print ads will include logo, name, address and phone for every participating restaurant as well as sponsor logos.
- Posters will be distributed throughout the town and signage will be distributed to participating restaurants.
•• Restaurant Week Logos will be made available in JPG format for restaurants’ use in collateral advertising, websites and promos. - Street Banners to be hung at key locations in Huntington, subject to availability.
- DineHuntington.com website will go live in advance of Restaurant Week. It will list and link to participating restaurants and also promote Huntington Village Promenade.
- Social media/e-mail: Restaurant Week Team will generate Twitter traffic, Facebook posts, etc. E-Mail blasts will provide frequent reminders.
MEDIA AWARENESS: The Restaurant Week Team will put together a media awareness program to include:
- Print Media: Press releases, calendar listings and advisories will be sent to all local newspapers, magazines and shopper publications. The Long Islander will provide ongoing editorial support and the Restaurant Week Team will conduct follow-ups with media to encourage placement, story development, etc.
- Television/Radio: Press releases, PSAs and news advisories to be sent to News12, Verizon’s FiOS1, and network news stations. The Team will conduct follow-ups with editors to encourage story development and airtime. PSAs to area radio stations.
CUSTOMER PARTICIPATION: Dine Huntington Restaurant Week will engage customers by asking them to review their Restaurant Week experiences. Diners’ mini-reviews may be reprinted on the website and in The Long-Islander, and will be made available to restaurants for future promotion purposes.
