“The Chamber is honored to have been selected to receive these three prestigious awards as well as the recognition of the Long Island Press and its readers,” said Jim Kelly, Chairman of the Board for the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce. “Our board, members and staff have worked hard to rebuild our organization during the past two years. To receive these awards and have our efforts recognized by our peers, the public and the Long Island business community is a wonderful accomplishment,” he continued.
The selection of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce as “Best Chamber of Commerce” is a considerable accomplishment, considering the publication received more than 20,000 submissions.
The excitement of winning the awards does not stop there. Already, the 2009 Chamber calendar has begun and is following the dynamic flow of events and programs from 2008. Last year, was one of the most challenging, yet successful years in the Chamber’s history. The organization hosted several outstanding educational and networking programs for its members including their annual Legislative Breakfast, Business After Hours Networking Events, Economic Summit, Under 30 Mentoring Program, Going Green Business Symposium and Expo, Young Professionals Chamber of Commerce and the annual Long Island Fall Festival. In total, last year’s Chamber events were attended by more than 250,000 people.
Incorporated in 1925 as a Chamber of Commerce in the Village of Huntington, today the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce represents the interests of business, industry, financial service, not-for-profit and other professionals of the greater Huntington region. Its mission is the promotion of business, economic development and job creation through the coordinated effort of its membership.
