It’s hard to believe that another year has come to an end. It seems like we were just enjoying our Luau at Crab Meadow Beach. I’m sure that I speak for all of our members in saying what an exciting year it has been. We have had so many successful events and the level of involvement and support from our members and sponsors has been tremendously gratifying for all of us that serve in leadership positions within the Chamber.
Together, we have tackled the difficult and challenging issues facing our region including the troubled economy, the need to protect our environment, and the changing corporate landscape on Long Island. With each and every initiative we have embarked on, we have made great progress in promoting our broad agenda for the Town of Huntington and the Long Island Region. So many of our members have contributed to our programs and networking events, and it would be difficult to thank everyone by name without leaving someone out. So, I will just say thank you to everyone that has participated in our events and in the work of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce in 2008.
Although we have much to celebrate, we also have a great deal to look forward to in 2009. Among the many programs and events that the Chamber will sponsor are: our Media Breakfast to look back at 2008 and what to expect in 2009 on Thursday, January 15th; the Annual Komedy and Karaoke Night on February 11th; Celebrating Long Island’s Young Professionals on March 30th; Economic Summit XI on April 23rd; Annual Membership Breakfast on May 14th; our Annual Golf Outing on June 1st; the very popular Luau at Sunset at Crab Meadow Beach on July 16th; and our great fall events including the 3rd Annual Going Green Business Symposium, the Long Island Fall Festival; our Legislative Breakfast and more. In addition, in response to the recent economic climate, we have implemented several new incentives for our members including the reduction of our sponsorship rates to enable businesses to continue to be involved with the Chamber without adding any unnecessary financial burden in an already challenging business environment and, we have waived any late fees for members who did not have a chance to renew their membership on time.
We are grateful for all the work of our Chamber Committees and Chamber Staff, their tireless time and effort is greatly appreciated. To our sponsors and to all our members THANK YOU for your continued support and participation in the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce. I wish each of you a Happy and Healthy New Year, and a New Year filled with great success and prosperity.
I will see you all at our next event.
Happy Holidays,
James V. Kelly, Jr.
Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce
Chairman
