Environmental issues, global warming and its future impact on the environment are hot topics being discussed throughout the world today.  To address these concerns here on Long Island, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce will host its Second Annual “Going Green Symposium and Business Expo” on Wednesday, September 17 from 7:30-11:00 AM at the Melville Marriott, 1350 Old Walt Whitman Rd in Melville.  This informational program will feature leading experts in the fields of environmental conservation, science, and business and industry who will participate in a panel discussion, vendors will demonstrate products for your home and business, and present exhibits all geared towards promoting a green environment.

Among the issues to be covered and exhibits presented will be organic cleaning products and apparel, energy-efficient alternatives for your home and office, solar building and architecture, and other green products currently available.

This year the Chamber is adding a one hour workshop with a special presentation by Long Island representatives of the U.S. Green Building Council. The presenters will interactively deliver opinions on the status and needs of their area of expertise.  Following the discussion will be an interactive Q&A session with the audience.

“Our annual Going Green Symposium and Expo is a forum which will introduce global issues to the community and bring the dialogue of environmental challenges and their solutions to Long Island,” explained Jim Kelly, Huntington Chamber Chairman. “Long Island, and in particular Huntington Township, is proud of its open spaces, clear waterways, parks, beaches and other recreational areas. We must pay attention and participate in the international dialogue presently taking place, ending our reliance on foreign oil as the primary means to support our modes of transportation, and adopt environmentally friendly alternatives within our lifestyles whether at home or at work,” added Kelly.

Vendor displays and numerous sponsorship opportunities at several levels are available for this special event that will provide valuable resources and networking opportunities for both small and large businesses on Long Island.  For sponsorship packages and registration information please contact the Chamber at 164 Main Street, Huntington, New York or call (631) 423-6100.  You can also visit the Chamber on the web at: www.huntingtonchamber.com
