The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce hosted an exciting media breakfast titled “Media State of Affairs –A Look Back At 2007 and What Headlines We Can Expect in 2008.” Representatives from New York’s most influential media sources reviewed the top news of 2007 and predicted important stories of 2008. The prestigious panelists included Frank Eltman (Associated Press), Joye Brown (Newsday), Greg Cergol (NBC4), Mark Goldman (Sirius Radio Court TV Morning), Claude Solnick (Long Island Business News), Mike Martino (Long Island Press), Peter Slogatt (Long Islander), Danielle Campbell (News 12 Long Island), Vic Latino (La Fiesta Radio), Carl Corry (News 12 Interactive) and Leah Dunleaf (Times Beacon newspapers). The program was a great opportunity for Chamber members to directly dialogue with some of New York’s most knowledgeable media to discuss significant news events that have impacted us on a local, regional, national and global basis.
The event included a moving speech by Lt. Lou Delli-Pizzi, an officer in the Fighting 69th which is headquartered in Huntington. Lt Delli-Pizzi shared his thoughts regarding his upcoming assignment and was met with a long, standing ovation from all who attended. In addition to Lt. Delli-Pizzi, several Long Island members of the famed Fighting 69th [1st Battalion, 69th Infantry (Light), NY Army National Guard] who were deployed on January 17th to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom participated in this dynamic program. The “Spotlight on Our Nonprofits” for the month was presented by MJ Pulling, Director of Development of the Pederson-Krag Center who introduced Chamber members to the great services the organization offers within the Long Island community.
