The new mobile application was conceived and developed by Chamber members Christopher G. Erckert of Evo Networks and Andrew D. Ruditser of MAXBURST, Inc. The application allows anyone to access chamber members by name or category, instantly call or map a member's business location or visit their website, and learn about member to member discounts. The new mobile web-based program is believed to be the first of its kind on Long Island being utilized by a Chamber of Commerce.
According to Christopher Erckert of Evo Networks, "Technology is a rapidly growing field and with the introduction of sophisticated mobile communication devices such as the Apple iPhone, the possibilities are nearly endless." The new program can work with any mobile phone equipped with a web browser. "By pointing your phone's browser to huntingtonchamber.com/mobile, the Chamber can promote its members by making it easy for people to find and enjoy all the products and services in the greater Huntington area, especially during this holiday season," said Andrew Ruditser.
"With over 1 million iPhone's sold, they along with other smart phones are quickly moving into the main stream and people are already demanding to have access to tailored content at their finger tips. So by leveraging this trend with a little vision and a little ingenuity, our members stay only a click away from potential customers," added Erckert.
Incorporated in 1925 as a Chamber of Commerce in the Village of Huntington, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce represents the interests of business, industry, financial services, not-for-profit and other professionals within the greater Huntington area.
