Bristal seeking Pacific War veterans and their families for special reunion

(Farmingdale) – Bristal Assisted Living communities will honor the legacy of all American veterans by sponsoring the Long Island arrival of the world’s only World War II flight worthy B-29 Superfortress this Memorial Day weekend while seeking veterans of the Pacific conflict and their families to gather for a private Bristal sponsored reunion with the bomber when it lands at the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport.

“This is an iconic aircraft from World War II that was based in the Pacific and carried the war to its conclusion in the skies over Japan,” stated Jan Burman, President Bristal Assisted Living. “We not only have an opportunity to sponsor this B-29 but an obligation to bring together those Long Islanders who served with them. We want their families to see the aircraft up close and personal and appreciate that they are living with heroes.”

Burman is asking Pacific veterans, or members of their family, to get in touch with them directly by phone at 212 843-8010 or email, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Whether you are part of the Bristal community or not, this is a unique opportunity to reconnect with the plane that dominated the Pacific. We would be honored by their presence,” observed Burman.

Among the other corporate sponsors making this formation flight possible are Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Stop & Shop Supermarkets, Newsday, ABC-7, the Long Island Contractors’ Association, Polimeni International and Cockpit USA.

Admission for the general public to tour the facility during Memorial Day weekend is $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors and veterans and $5.00 for children under 13. Children under five are free. The museum’s web site is at www.americanairpowermuseum.org
