Joe Volavka
Huntington Hospital
Joseph T. Volavka is the Vice President Deputy Hospital President at Huntington Hospital. He received
his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in Boston
Massachusetts 1990 and a Master of Business Administration from Long Island University 2002.
Joe is responsible for Hospital Facilities, Capital Construction, Facilities Management, Environmental
Services, Engineering, Materials Management, Food and Nutrition, Cardiac Services, Physical Therapy,
Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Wound healing and Hyperbaric Medicine,
Respiratory Therapy, Emergency Management, Safety, Security, Environment of Care, Patient Transport,
Biomed, Telecommunications, Valet, Information Technology, Community Relations and the Dolan
Family Health Center. Joe previously served as the Associate Executive Director of Hospital Operations
and prior to that as the Senior Administrative Director of the Dolan Family Health Center, located in
Greenlawn, NY.
Joe is a life-long Long Islander who resides in Brightwaters, New York. Joe started his career as a staff
Physical Therapist and quickly gravitated to leadership positions, first in the arena of rehabilitation and
then in numerous healthcare environments. Joe remains a highly motivated NYS licensed healthcare
professional with 35 years of progressive management and leadership experience. He possesses a strong
record of success with the development of clinical programs and operational enhancements while
functioning as a liaison between numerous agencies.
Under Joe’s leadership Huntington Hospital has been recognized by CMS as a 5-star hospital three times,
recognized as a New York top hospital in US News and World report, Health grades and Leapfrog “A”
rating. Joe has established himself as a leader who is results driven and admired by his staff and peers.
Joe enjoys spending time with his family, his wife, Christine, also a Physical Therapist, and his children,
Joe Jr., and Elizabeth. He is an active member of the Bay Shore/Brightwaters community, having spent
much of his children’s youth coaching sports.
